Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary objective of Krillion?
The primary goal is to dive as deep as possible into the ocean by recalling rare, obscure, and highly specific answers to category prompts. Obvious answers provide minimal depth, while rare answers plunge your submarine thousands of meters.
How are answers evaluated?
Answers are evaluated locally through a deterministic normalized string matching engine across a curated knowledge base of 104+ topic categories. Submissions are classified into Plankton (+220m), Reef (+600m), Abyssal (+1,400m), or Hadal (+2,200m) tiers.
What happens if I make a typo in my answer?
Krillion includes substring and normalization tolerance for punctuation, diacritics, and case insensitivity. Minor trailing characters or partial titles (such as "Dostoevsky" for "Fyodor Dostoevsky") are automatically recognized.
Does Krillion store my dive history?
Yes, your dive logbook records your final depth, oceanic rank, accuracy rate, average obscurity, and deepest single word cut in browser LocalStorage. No personal data is sent to external servers.
How do the acoustic audio effects work?
Krillion features a custom Web Audio API synthesizer that produces real-time procedural sonar pings, hull hydrophone hums, deep submersions, and celebratory Hadal chimes without loading bulky external audio files.
Can I generate my own custom trivia themes?
Yes! Open the Dive Settings modal (Compass/Themes icon in header) to type any custom topic prompt. The system will build a custom 5-prompt expedition for your chosen topic.
