Official Game Rules & Input Validation Standards
Krillion applies deterministic, fair, and rigorous evaluation criteria to ensure every dive represents genuine factual recall rather than random guessing or placeholder spam.
1. Valid Answer Criteria
An answer is deemed VALID if it matches a genuine, recognized entity belonging to the prompt category.
Accents, diacritics, and uppercase/lowercase distinctions are automatically stripped during normalization. For example, "São Paulo" matches "Sao Paulo", and "Mjölnir" matches "Mjolnir".
Common parenthetical descriptors or alternate spellings (e.g. "T-Rex" vs "Tyrannosaurus Rex", "ISS" vs "International Space Station") are supported.
2. Prohibited Placeholders & Blacklist Enforcement
To prevent evasion and maintain fair competition, the evaluation engine enforces a strict blacklist against non-answers, evasive phrases, and keyboard mash tokens.
Submitting any of the following triggers an immediate "Hull Breach (Invalid Input)" verdict with 0 depth awarded and streak reset:
- Generic non-answers: "none", "nothing", "idk", "i don't know", "skip", "pass", "whatever", "random", "not sure", "n/a".
- Keyboard mash patterns: "asdf", "qwerty", "zxcv", "asdfghjkl", or 5+ consecutive consonants with no vowels.
- Repeated character tokens: "aaaa", "zzzz", "..."
- Single-letter inputs or strings under 2 valid alphanumeric characters.
Streak Penalty Warning
Typing an invalid placeholder resets your streak multiplier from 1.5x back to 1.0x. If you are uncertain, it is always better to guess a genuine plausible candidate than type a placeholder.
3. Spelling & Substring Matching
Krillion allows substring containment matching to prevent punishing minor typographical slips or full-name vs surname distinctions.
For example, submitting "Dostoevsky" for 19th-century novelists matches "Fyodor Dostoevsky". Submitting "Parker Solar" matches "Parker Solar Probe".
4. Round Timeout Protocol
When the round countdown reaches 0 seconds without a submission, an automatic timeout is registered.
Timeouts yield 0 meters gained, mark the round as invalid, and reset your streak counter.
